Summer Middle School Camp

Summer Middle School Camp
2018

This was the first year that Donny expressed interest in going to church camp. And we were super excited for him! This was a week long camp at the end of June and he couldn't wait.

The theme for camp was Unmasked. Something neat about Indian Lake is that each year it is a different theme and everything they do revolves around this theme.

We of course, were unsure how Donny would do. He had never been away from us for more than a night and only with family. But with this being right in town, we knew that if there was any problems, we could get to him very easily. And with me working right around the corner, it was even better for him.

We couldn't wait to hear the stories from camp when we picked him up. I just had a feeling that he was going to have a blast and couldn't wait to go back! And guess what!!! He couldn't stop talking all the way home....even if he hardly had a voice. I will have to have him write something up to tell you some of the amazing stories from camp....so he can keep his memories right here on our blog.

Donny has made a lot of friends in his youth group at Three Rivers Church of the Nazarene. We are so excited to see him grow and continue on this walk.

And he is already talking about going to camp this summer.
Sister had to help fix his pillow
Excited to check in

I have him and it looks like he had a blast!!!!

Hey everyone, I am tired and I have no voice

Vicksburg Bulldogs Clay Target Shooting 2018

In the fall of Donny's 6th grade year, he decided he was going to try something new. He was going to try clay target shooting for his school. This is a fall and spring event. Something that was pretty new to the school. And definitely new to us. He went out there and did great for a new kid. A kid that had never held a gun in his life.   Each 'season' is 5 weeks long.

He went out that first fall season and averaged 1 or 2 targets hit each night. We knew that it would be a slow start, but we also knew that he could do it. We took the winter off and started practicing again in April.

The spring season came upon us and he was doing awesome. He would call me on his way home and tell me all about his night of shooting and he was always so proud with the number of targets he hit. That spring season came to a close and he averaged 8 targets. Quite an improvement from the 1 or 2 in the fall. During the spring season we found out that he could participate in State Tournament in Mason, Michigan. And we jumped on it and signed him up. We couldn't wait to see what he could do there. But we would have to wait until June for that.

This is an amazing sport to have in Vicksburg. And I am incredibly thankful that Donny is able to  participate and have his Dad right there by his side. Yes, I go whenever I can, but this is their thing. We have our thing, but for his Dad to be there is amazing. And I have seen his face light up when he sees the improvement that his son is making each and every time he goes out to shoot.

We took the summer off due to different things, but we got right back out there when school started. And when the fall season came around, Donny was impressing us again. Calling me each night and telling me how well he did. Out of the 5 weeks, his highest was 23 out of 50 targets hit. And he was super proud of himself that night. He averaged 11.5 targets a night and we know that this will go up. Right now we are taking a break. We will be back at it come March. And I cannot wait to see what his average will be then.

I am back!!!

Wow, I have a lot of catching up to do! I cannot believe that it has really been this long since I have written on here. A lot has happened since I last posted. I guess that could be why I haven't posted. I have been busy.

I am still working full time and so is Donny. We are both on first shift and loving it. We can be a family in the evening and have the full weekend as a family.

In January of 2013 we bought our first house! It is still a work in progress but we are getting there. I still have things that are in boxes, but I also have been getting rid of a lot of stuff!!! That is a good feeling. We have an acre of land and love it. We have been able to take full advantage of that as well!

In September of 2013 we found out that we were expecting. What a shock to all of us, but we were happy with it. Little Donny was really excited that he was going to get to be a big brother. And he couldn't wait to find out what we were having. We found out in December of 2013 that we were having a little girl. He was super happy about that! As were we. It was time to start buying lots of pink things!!! Our little girl was due May 5th, 2014. And her name would be Makayla Lynn. I continued to work thru my whole pregnancy. I actually worked on her due date. Just for a couple of hours in the morning, but I still worked. I woke up at 3am on May 6th to contractions, I was in labor. We took Donny to his grandparents house and we headed up to the hospital. We were admitted at 7:30am, Miss Makayla Lynn entered the world at 3:08pm. And she was very alert. And we all fell in love. Her big brother did not want to let go of her. He was in love and we all could see it. So we are now a family of 4 and we wouldn't change it for the world. Sometimes it does sound weird to say I have 2 kids, but for 8years it was just our little man.

I will finish off this post by saying, I cannot wait to update you all on other things. I have some awesome pictures that we took on vacation last year and they are updated pics of the kiddos. SO please keep your eyes open, as I will be writing another post within the next couple of days. And I promise, I won't go another three years without a post. That is way too long!

Here are some of the pictures that I took of Donny this past fall. I am so happy that we have this awesome Vicksburg Village right around the corner from us and I can get some great pictures there! And it doesn't help that I love taking pictures of this adorable little boy of mine!!! He is such a ham!!!
